Hawaii part 2

Ok, it's time to post the rest of our pictures from our December trip to Hawaii.
PEARL HARBOR

Here we are at the Visitor's center for Pearl Harbor. You can see the USS Missouri in the background, which is overlooking the Arizona memorial:

You take a really loud ferry out to the memorial. It's really cool to be there. You see the names on the wall of the people who are entombed in the ship that you can still see through the water. Oil still seeps up from the ship, and this is one of my favorite pictures that Brent took in Hawaii. This is the oily water, with some flowers that were tossed over the memorial for respect.
We also took a tour of the Might Mo. Here she is:

We saw the Missouri with my Grandma and her husband who are on a mission in Hawaii. The last picture is of me and my Nana, as I call my grandma.

CRUISING
We boarded our cruise ship on a Monday afternoon, and that's when it started raining. It never quit! The locals said it was the most rain they've seen in about 20 years. Lucky for us. :) We didn't even get to dock at Kona because the water was so choppy. The boat was nice, and the food was good, so that made it so that we still had a lot of fun.

VOLCANOE NATIONAL PARK

This park is on the Big Island. We were all really excited to see volcanoes and info about them. However, since it was raining this is what our view of the crater was:
We were disappointed, and wet! We did get to go in a lava tube, which was cool, but short. We didn't have flashlights to explore the other sections of the lava tubes. But hey, it was dry in there, and really cool to see.Luckily we had rented a car and were not on a paid tour from the cruise ship. We were able to drive down to the coast, where the clouds cleared!

We took a small walk over to where the lava flow came across the road a few years ago.

So, all in all we were happy about our Volcano Park experience, if only we could have seen more at the top. And we didn't get to see any flowing lava either, which was a bit disappointing as well.

MAUI

Here is our experience in Maui:

We drove around in the rain and weren't able to see anything we had planned on. We couldn't see the beaches, the mountains, or anything. It was sad. This is Brent's mom and sister in the picture above.

We drove to a whaling village and saw a few things there.

And we finally decided to invest the $2 in ponchos so we could se a little more in the rain:

The next day we were in Kauai, and we had a great time doing Mud ATV's. There are too many pictures from this experience, we'll post that in the next post.

The second day in Kauai we had some sun and we went to the beach! The water was still brown and murky from all the rain, but at least it wasn't as rainy.

We got off our cruise on a Monday morning, and we had that day to have some more fun on Oahu. We went to the beach for part of the day:

We played in the waves! All in all, we had a great trip, even though it rained and we missed out on a lot of sights and snorkeling. Thanks Kathy for taking us!
